Authors Note: I picked this book because I liked the describing words especially when they where in the games. This is one of the best books I have ever read and the plot of the book was really good. This book has the best ending I have ever read in a Sci-Fi book.
The battle of the games is an understatement as 24 contestants battle in a arena until the last two are standing. This is what the book “The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins is all about. This book has drama, action, adventure and a little bit of mystery which teaches great lessons that can be learned.
Great is one way to describe how she pinched together every genre needed was amazing. There was drama when Peeta was in the cave dying and Katniss found him and nursed him back to health. It was great adventure when Katniss explored the Arena and discovered new things all around her. Some Action parts are when Katniss exploded the barrel and destroyed the careers food supply and forced the careers to hunt for their food. Mystery comes in when Katniss see’s Peeta (the other person in district 12 who is supposed to be in love with Katniss) teaming up with the careers who are tricky and mischievous. All of the genres work great with each-other.
Great lessons are provided in this book. One lesson is that life is not fair. Katniss Evergreen is just an ordinary girl struggling for her and her families life. She was picked out of a boatload of kids to compete in a game which there is a 1 in 24 chance to even survive. Then once she was in the arena her best friend, Rue was killed and forced Katniss to work alone. Another lesson is appreciate every day because in the arena there is a good chance that you could fall asleep and never wake up or lose someone you are very close to. One more lesson in this book is make the most out of everything. This lesson is important since characters in the arena could either go to the cornucopia at the start of the game or they could run into the woods and not risk getting killed or injured. Whatever they got in the cornucopia they had to make the most of to survive the longest number of days.

Once the movie for The Hunger Games comes out it will only enhance the book. Although Hunger Games did not win the Newberry award this book is definitely well deserved for it. This book is extremely good and I hope that you read The Hunger Games.
