The Beast in Pewaukee

Authors Note: This is a true story about when I was fishing in 6th and accidentally hooked a Muskie.

  I was sitting in 85 degree weather fishing in summer school wondering where the fish were in Pewaukee Lake.  Cast.  Reel.  Cast.  Reel.  I was considering packing up for today but I had a feeling that I was in a good spot.  Finally, a large sunfish hit.  While the sunfish was fighting, trying to slip the hook a 38 inch Muskie decided it was lunch time and nailed the sunfish.  As soon as it hit I knew it was a big fish.  The powerful tail charged through the water causing ripples.  We fought for 5 minutes, seeing who would make the first mistake.  Finally, the fish got tired and let me reel it in.  As soon as it hit the tan beach sand the line snapped.  I panicked since I knew the fish could easily flop back into the lake.  My friend, Connor, ran and grabbed the Muskie’s tail right before it could escape to freedom.  We dragged it to the shore and I claimed my trophy.  I took pictures, measured it, and let the fish go.  I have caught almost 600 fish in my life but the most memorable one was that one.
